as a subtle reminder of dreams and visions of old and to reignite the fire to keep dreaming and keep working towards higher goals..
(wishing i could properly credit the photographer but cannot find a name.. image from Leonie who got it through Pixie)
This image works like that for me..
Reminders.. don't you find we all need them? I find they come in lots of different forms, sometimes through friends or family, or an image in a book or magazine. It could be the paragraph I read when opening up a random page in a random book or the expression on the face of the lady in front of me in the aisle of the supermarket. More often than not they come through when expressing myself in any art form, mostly journaling and painting.
Which makes me think of Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way I worked with a few years ago. I got up early every morning and wrote the 'Morning Pages' and it sure did me a lot of good! First of all my mind started losing a lot of useless chatter and because of that it was a lot easier to create without having voices.
Secondly I was loving the Artist's Dates. Not that I actually did many, but still loved them.
A piece I have been working on this week. Loving the combination of machine and hand stitching, attaching found items as I go. I would love to take a workshop with India Flint, her work is so very very inspiring to me. Learning about using natural pigments to dye cloth.. I dropped a hint for Mothersday..
I have been busy sewing this week, I re-used one of Buddy's old hoodies by cutting it apart, then turned it inside-out. Using one of my jumpers as a guide I redid the panels and sleeves, made them longer, funkier and have been wearing it for 3 days straight now. Yesterday I made this little meditation pillow (picture above) and today? Nothing yet, but the day has still got a few hours..
What have you been up to? Feel free to share a link in the comments section so I can check out your inspiring projects!
That room reminds me when we lived in an Indian TP in 1970-2...or there abouts.
Good energy...
I just finished a huge (for me) commissioned art quilt. See it on my blog today with Flickr photos in side bar for details at http://lynn-nonameblog.blogspot.com.

So true Viv. Sometimes just a glance at an image or even a word is enough to ignite the creative fires. Looks like you are really enjoying your new direction!

oh, this space in the top photo! it's so soulful, isn't it? i have lived in a yurt and in a 'crooked house' (no right angles anywhere, i don't think), and they were so much nicer to live in than a square or rectangle. so what i'm being reminded of now is that one needn't settle for square just because it's there. one can create a different living space (and a different life).
i've just added your blog to my sidebar - that seems to be the only way i keep up with blogs. so now i will keep up.... : )
beautiful day to you, viv...

What a beautiful photo and a wonderful reminder, thank you Viv...
So loved the morning pages with Julia Cameron too, that mind chatter can be endless. Finding my way back to meditation after some time away and loving the calmness that comes with that. Love your blog!!
